Dr. Kelly Nguyen is a Virginia native, raised in Fairfax County in Northern Virginia.
Dr. Nguyen has lived in the Richmond area since completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. She was inspired to pursue optometry after working alongside excellent doctors in the Richmond area, mentors she still looks up to today.
She received her Doctorate in Optometry with clinical and academic honors from New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. She also represented her school in a country-wide optometry school competition called the Quiz Bowl.
Dr. Nguyen has served several community health centers in the Boston area and also completed clinical rotations at the Boston Veteran’s Affairs hospital and at University of Virginia’s Ophthalmology department. Her rotations have given her an excellent foundational knowledge of ocular disease, advanced ocular imaging, dry eye treatments, keratoconus and specialty contacts.
Dr. Nguyen firmly believes that medicine doesn’t have to be scary, and she hopes your visit with her leaves you with more knowledge, more reassurance, and at least one laugh.
Outside of the office, you may find her at a brewery with her friends, watching live performances (theater, stand up comedy, and magic shows are her favorites), or at the airport for a weekend trip.
